Welcome to Bedford Academy!
Welcome to the Bedford Academy family! It is my pleasure to invite your scholar to participate in our 2026 Summer Bridge Program, which will take place Monday, July 6, 2026, through Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The transition from middle school to high school is one of the most important milestones in a young person's educational journey. At Bedford Academy, we believe that success begins before the first official day of school. Our Summer Bridge Program is intentionally designed to provide scholars with the academic foundation, confidence, and support necessary to begin high school prepared to excel.
Throughout the program, scholars will strengthen their skills in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies while becoming familiar with the rigorous academic expectations that have made Bedford Academy one of Brooklyn's premier high schools. Equally important, scholars will develop the organizational habits, study skills, and critical thinking abilities that are essential for long-term academic success.
The Summer Bridge Program also provides scholars with the opportunity to become comfortable in their new learning environment before the school year begins. Students will meet teachers, administrators, counselors, and classmates, learn about Bedford Academy's traditions and expectations, participate in team-building activities, and begin establishing friendships that will support them throughout high school.
At Bedford Academy, we maintain high expectations because we believe every scholar possesses the ability to achieve excellence. Participation in the Summer Bridge Program helps scholars begin developing the discipline, responsibility, and resilience that are hallmarks of successful Bedford Academy students. Research consistently demonstrates that students who participate in structured transition programs enter high school with greater confidence, stronger academic readiness, and a greater sense of belonging within their school community.
We encourage every incoming ninth-grade scholar to attend each day of the program. Consistent attendance and active participation will ensure that scholars are fully prepared to take advantage of the outstanding academic opportunities available at Bedford Academy, including Advanced Placement courses, college-credit opportunities, leadership development, and enrichment experiences.
We look forward to partnering with you as we begin this exciting chapter in your scholar's educational journey. Together, we will continue our tradition of developing scholars who are intellectually curious, socially responsible, and prepared to lead in college, careers, and their communities.
